1. Introduction
These Terms & Conditions (“Terms”) govern your use of the Dunn Blades website and your purchase of any products from us. By placing an order or using this website, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the site or place an order.

These Terms are governed by South African law, including the Consumer Protection Act 68 of 2008 (CPA) and the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act 25 of 2002 (ECTA).

2. Who We Are
This website is owned and operated by Dunn Blades, a maker of handcrafted Damascus steel knives based in South Africa.

In these Terms, “we”, “us”, and “our” refer to Dunn Blades; “you” and “your” refer to the customer.

3. Our Products
Every Dunn Blades knife is handmade. Because Damascus steel is forged by hand, no two patterns are identical, and natural materials such as wood, bone, and horn vary in grain and colour. As a result:

Product photographs are illustrative. The knife you receive may differ slightly in pattern, colour, and figure.
These natural variations are a feature of handmade work and are not defects.
We make every effort to display products, descriptions, and pricing accurately, but we do not warrant that all content is free of errors. We reserve the right to correct any errors and to update product information at any time.

4. Commissioned & Custom Work
Commissioned knives are made to your specifications. By commissioning a knife, you agree that:

A deposit is required to begin work, and this deposit is non-refundable as it secures materials and bench time.
Estimated completion times are estimates, not guarantees, as handwork timelines can vary.
We may share progress for approval at agreed stages. Significant changes requested after work has begun may affect price and timeline.
Commissioned pieces are non-returnable and non-refundable except where defective or damaged, as set out in our Refund & Returns Policy.
5. Pricing & Payment
All prices are listed in South African Rand (ZAR) and, where applicable, are inclusive of VAT.
Payment must be made in full (or by the agreed deposit for commissions) before an order is processed or dispatched.
We accept the payment methods shown at checkout. Title to the goods remains with Dunn Blades until payment is received in full.
6. Orders
Your order is an offer to purchase. A contract is formed only once we accept and confirm your order. We reserve the right to decline or cancel any order — for example, where an item is unavailable, where there is a pricing error, or where we are unable to lawfully supply the product to your location. If we cancel a paid order, you will receive a full refund of amounts paid for that order.

7. Age Restriction & Lawful Use
Knives are edged tools and must be purchased and used responsibly and lawfully.

You confirm that you are at least 18 years old (or the legal age of majority in your jurisdiction) when purchasing.
You agree to use any knife purchased lawfully and responsibly, and not for any unlawful purpose.
You are responsible for ensuring that you may lawfully purchase, import, possess, and carry the product under the laws of your country, province, or region. This is especially important for international orders, where local laws and import restrictions vary.
We are not liable for any item that is seized, restricted, or rendered unlawful by the laws applicable to your location.

8. Shipping & Delivery
We ship within South Africa and, where permitted, internationally.

Risk in the goods passes to you on delivery.
Delivery timeframes are estimates and are not guaranteed.
For international orders, import duties, taxes, and customs charges are your responsibility and are not included in our prices.
Because knives are valuable and sharp, we package every blade securely. Please open packaging with care.

9. Returns & Refunds
Returns and refunds are governed by our Refund & Returns Policy, which forms part of these Terms. In summary: ready-made items may be returned within 14 days if unused and in original condition; commissioned items are non-returnable except where defective; and customers are responsible for return shipping costs. 10. Care, Use & Limitation of Liability
Our knives are functional tools designed for their intended purpose. You use them at your own risk. To the fullest extent permitted by law, Dunn Blades is not liable for:

Injury, loss, or damage arising from the misuse, negligent use, modification, or unlawful use of any product;
Normal wear, or damage caused by improper care, sharpening, or storage.
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits any liability that cannot lawfully be excluded under the CPA, including your rights in respect of goods that are unsafe or of poor quality.

11. Warranty
We warrant our knives against genuine defects in materials and workmanship, consistent with the implied warranty under the CPA. This warranty does not cover misuse, accidental damage, neglect, normal wear, corrosion due to improper care, or unauthorised modification or repair.

12. Intellectual Property
All content on this website — including the Dunn Blades name, maker’s mark, logos, designs, text, and photographs — is owned by Dunn Blades and protected by law. You may not copy, reproduce, or use any of it without our written permission.

13. Privacy
We process your personal information in accordance with the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 (POPIA) and our Privacy Policy. We collect only the information needed to process and deliver your orders and to communicate with you.

14. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. The version published on this website at the time of your order applies to that order. Please review these Terms periodically.

15. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by and interpreted in accordance with the laws of the Republic of South Africa, and you submit to the jurisdiction of the South African courts.
