No two Damascus patterns are identical. Each blade carries a unique fingerprint of the forge — a record of every heat, fold, and weld that shaped it.
Multiple high-carbon steel types are folded and forge-welded under extreme heat, producing extraordinary toughness, visual depth and character.
The layered structure of Damascus creates a micro-serrated cutting edge that is both exceptionally sharp and resilient through serious use.
Your blade concept is refined through conversation. Dimensions, purpose, handle material, and finish are agreed before the first hammer falls.
High-carbon steel billets are selected and prepared for the forge. The Damascus pattern begins in the choice of materials and arrangement.
Steel is heated, hammered, folded, and welded until the Damascus pattern emerges. The blade is profile-ground and heat-treated to specification.
Handle materials — wood, bone, G10, or Kudu horn — are fitted and hand-shaped. The blade is final-sharpened and delivered ready to use.
Every bespoke commission is a collaboration. Tell Philip what you need — he’ll build something that outlasts you.
